SOFA Chicago 2012

There is something so very special about SOFA Chicago. The feeling I get walking in on Opening Night is pure magic. So much incredible talent in one place. For me, being a participating artist feels like walking on the field at the Super Bowl. This is as good as it gets. The feeling I get walking in on Opening Night is pure magic. A fruitful 2012

A fruitful 2012

This year of 2012 has been busy and fruitful for my glass sculptures.  It began with the sale of Levitation. I completed Red Shift (#15), Limoncelli (#16) and Mythic Fire (#17). Vacation Time

Vacation Time

Then on to Italy, traveling by train to visit Perugia, Deruta, Popoli (the birthplace of Gaye’s maternal grandparents) and a few yet-to-be-determined small towns along the train route. Who else

My experience since crossing over to glass sculpture in 2010 has been quite extraordinary. The reception by collectors and galleries is truly heartwarming. SOFA Chicago 2011

Two years ago at SOFA Chicago 2009, I was enticed into the kiln cast glass sculpture world by a glass collector who “saw” my wood sculptures in a medium totally unknown to me at the time. I call it my “cross-over moment.” This year at SOFA Chicago both my glass sculptures and wood art are represented.

SOFA Chicago 2006

SOFA Chicago 2006 was the largest SOFA event yet staged to date — with 99 international galleries from 16 countries, a record Opening Night crowd of 3200 (where Gaye & I toasted the evening with champagne all decked out in our Santa Fe finery), and the largest ever public attendance over the entire Expo, estimated at 33,000. The scene was incredibly exciting with its personal dynamics and sophisticated art savvy public. The reception for my
