Pollitt chosen AACG Rising Star 2013

The Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass (AACG) selected me for their Rising Star 2013 program – an initiative “to bring attention to young and talented artists” in contemporary glass art.  The recognition by this august body for my talent is deeply gratifying.  As for the young part, I am only 3 years old in the field of glass art, and certainly qualify as chronologically young at heart.

My name was placed in nomination by Glass Alliance New Mexico and Betsy Ehrenberg.  My deepest appreciation for their confidence and efforts.  The seven other glass artists with whom I share this recognition were also sponsored by contemporary glass groups from around the country.

In conjunction with this honor, from June 7 thru 9, I will be attending and making brief presentations at GlassWeekend’13 at Wheaton Village, NJ.  This International Symposium and Exhibition of Contemporary Glass is co-presented by The Creative Glass Center of America at WheatonArts and the Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass.  A biennial event held since 1985, GlassWeekend brings together artists, collectors, galleries, and museum curators for a three-day weekend of exhibitions, lectures, hands-on glassmaking, demonstrations and social events.

During Saturday night dinner, there will be an auction of works of glass created by myself and the seven other Rising Stars.  I created Blue Shift specifically for the auction.

I look forward to sharing photos and stories with you after the event.
