Opening night tonight, November 6, and for the next three days, the Thomas Riley Galleries will exhibit five of my sculptures, 4 in cast glass and 1 in wood – Enigma, Midnight Moves, Red Shift, Ode to Morph, and Morph VI in black cherry wood. My wood art first appeared at SOFA Chicago 2006 represented by two galleries and in a curated special exhibit entitled The Presence of Absence. Red Shift: On previous works, I had been noticing hints of shapes and colors being projected onto one side of the piece by design structures on the other side of the piece. With Red Shift, I intentionally planned for that occurrence and chose a glass that does dramatic color shifts depending on the thickness.
