Creating glass sculptures…

I’ve also written something for you about the inspiration for each design…how the piece developed in the wax sculpting stage…and some of the challenges during the creation process.

I’ve found at events like SOFA, the process of how my work comes into being is a favorite topic. But without photos, it’s not so easy to imagine.

So on each detail page, you will find three to six photos of each work in various stages of creation. First, there’s a blank wax cylinder that I’ve poured to match the basic size of a new design I have in mind. Then you’ll likely see some initial design lines chalked on the wax and another image or two as I sculpted away the wax. Then there’s the “finished wax” and the glass foundry’s returned piece. Finally, last in the line of images, you’ll see my completed abstract glass art sculpture.

And, if you’re intrigued enough to learn even more about the “nuts & bolts” of my kiln-cast process, please also visit Creating Glass Art.
