Experimental Twists
I created this piece simultaneously with Chocolate Twist. Experimenting with the entire concept, I decided to make Chocolate Twist II shorter by 1″ and wider by 1″.
You might not think an inch either way would be noticeable, but it certainly is. As a matter of fact, images of the two pieces side by side, clearly demonstrate the difference.
A sense of drama in both pieces comes from the contrast between the light colored sapwood and the older, darker interior of the tree. Sapwood is the tree’s layer immediately inside the bark. As the newest growth area of the tree, it provides the nutrients that rise to feed new branches and leaves.
