An 8″-high cylinder perches on a 1″-high stem. And together they balance atop a 5″-high, round-bottomed base.
A rounded base with meridian-like groves now balances a tornado-shaped top almost twice its height.
The tornado shape is now excavated. With 1/4 of the wall missing, it reveals its hollow center as it twists above the maridian base.
The wax has been “sanded” to a smoother finish in this photo of the opposite side of the tornado shape..
What looks to be a finished wax sculpture shows a graceful, open structure atop a swirled meridan base.
But the final wax reveals a dramatically evolved design.. Multiple, slender twists. Increased negative space. And the artist’s pursuit of sculptural grace.
